Sophie O’Melia ‘25

Sophie O’Melia is a junior at Harvard, concentrating in Applied Math with a focus on Digital Humanities. Sophie is from New York City where she began her ballet training at the School of American Ballet and Alvin Ailey. After her early years, Sophie then studied at Manhattan Youth Ballet for 10 years where she had the privilege to perform in ballets such as Cinderella, Giselle, Who Cares?, Stars and Stripes, as well as her personal favorite, Russian Girl in George Balanchine’s Serenade. With Manhattan Youth Ballet, Sophie performed in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade alongside artists such as Lea Michelle. She also spent her summers training at different programs such as Boston Ballet, Miami City Ballet, and Houston Ballet. Sophie took a gap year after high school during which she worked at Saturday Night Live, so she is especially excited to be on campus and to dance and perform with the Harvard Ballet Company!
