Maria (Mia) Steis ‘26

Maria (Mia) Steis is a senior at Boston University studying Biomedical Engineering with a concentration in Machine Learning. She grew up in Arlington, Virginia, where she trained at the Adagio Ballet School of Dance and later at the Virginia Dance Conservatory. To expand on her training, Mia attended the Kirov Ballet Academy and Bolshoi Ballet Academy Summer Intensives and participated in the Danzante Contemporary Trainee program. She has also received Top 12 recognition in the prestigious Youth American Grand Prix ballet competition in both ballet soloist and group piece categories. In college, Mia has performed with and choreographed two pieces for HBC and played Mercutio in HRDC's Romeo and Juliet in Fall 2024. Outside of dancing, Mia is a research assistant in a synthetic biology lab at BU, and in her spare time, enjoys traveling, skiing, running, and hiking.
