Emily Parker
Emily Parker is currently a Premedical Program student at HES and the Research Assistant for Brigham and Women’s Orthopaedic Surgery Foot and Ankle Department. She attended Indiana University from 2011 - 2014 and graduated with a BS in Music (Ballet) and an Outside Field (Biology) with High Distinction. After graduation, Emily began her professional ballet career with Oregon Ballet Theatre. Emily had the opportunity to perform corps, soloist, and principal roles in a wide variety of classical and contemporary repertoire during her six seasons with OBT. Some of her favorite performances were William Forsythe’s In the Middle Somewhat Elevated, Nacho Duato’s Jardí Tancat, August Bournonville’s Napoli, Christopher Stowell’s The Sleeping Beauty, Nicolo Fonte’s Beautiful Decay, George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker, and Jiří Kylián’s Falling Angles. Emily also had the opportunity to perform principal roles as a guest artist with both Aspen Santa Fe Ballet and American Contemporary Ballet. Outside of the studio, Emily was an elected Dancer Representative on the OBT Board of Trustees, a member of the OBT Management-Union Joint Committee, and an elected member of the AGMA Negotiating Committee where she helped compose and negotiate the company’s initial collective bargaining agreement. Since retiring, she has been working full-time in clinical research at Brigham and Women’s Hospital as she prepares for a career in medicine. Emily is thrilled to continue dancing as a member of HBC!
